What Will De-wormer Do To My Dogs?

Hi! I have two dogs. A 4 month old Chihuahua and a Dachshund that is nearly two years old. My Chihuahua has been acting funny here lately. Diarrhea and not eating as well as she normally does. The vet said she probably had worms and she had me come buy and pick up some de-wormer pills. SHe said it would be best to give them my Dachshund as well since they live together (even though he’s not showing the same symptoms as the Chihuahua). Anyway, she said that the dogs wouldn’t require any extra care after I gave them the pills. But I’ve heard from some coworkers that de-wormer can make dogs really sick. Should I keep them outside for a few hours after I give them the medication or will they be ok in their normal inside environment going outside every 3-4 hours?
Also, I forgot to ask my vet this, (i may call her later and ask her) but I have a cat as well. Should I give him some wormer too? Does it have to be the same vet strength or can the OTC brand work on him?

We got a new puppy 1 week ago and took her to the vet 2 days later to make sure everything was OK. (She’s our first dog and we wanted to be extra careful b/c we don’t have much experience with puppies. The vet said she had worms and intestinal parasites. He told us to give her 1 tablet of Drontal Plus and 3 syrnges of marquis (1 per day for 3 days). She didn’t eat very much when we first got her (which is one of the reason we took her to the vet, but since we started her on the meds she stopped eating all together. We gave her boiled chicken and rice twice about 36 and 48 hours ago, she ate it, but didn’t keep it down. We also called the place where we got her from (foster mom) and she said not to worry and make sure she drinks water and has access to food and she’ll be fine… We just want to make sure. We gave her the last dose of her meds last night, so we hope she improves today. She does drink water without a problem. It is Sunday and we plan to take her in tomorrow if she doesn’t improve. Does anyone else know about this or have any experience with these symptoms? She is starting to look frail and we are worried about her. Please help!

Today, my 2 yr old pregnant cocker seemed a little under the weather. A couple of hours later, I noticed that she had an accident and the loose stool had some blood in it. Later this evening, she had another episode with some more blood in her stool. I called my vet and explained the symptoms to the secretary, who consulted with the vet and came back to the phone and said to worm the dog and if the symptoms continue into tomorrow, then bring her in. I tried to worm her in pill form which was stuck inside a hotdog. She would not touch it. She just kept going to lay down in a closet of an unused room. About 2 hours later, I was able to get her to take the hotdog and she was very excited to eat. Now, I have just noticed a blackish discharge from her vagina. However, she has no typical signs of labor. But the earlier signs lead me to believe she may have had premature labor because of hiding in an unused room. Does the discharge mean she may deliver 3wks early? Will be her last liter.

Before I go into it, I AM taking him to the vet TODAY, I already have my appointment but I would like some input as to what it might be:
My dog (a weimarener x) has been having extremely runny stool since Tuesday (at first I thought he just ate something he wasn’t supposed to), but since it’s gotten worse he’s lost his appetite and won’t drink very much either.
He is 9 months old, and the past two nights he’s been waking up to be outside and again his stool is extremely runny. He ALWAYS sleeps through the night and so getting up to go is unusual for him…Last night and this morning he has been shivering when he sleeps and that’s all he wants to do is sleep.
Also, he has started to not put pressure on his back right leg. I made him some rice/beef mixture an hour ago and he ate that fine and drank a few sips of water, I have also been giving him some ice cubes to try and hydrate him.
He is an indoor dog and is the only dog and is always on a leash when he is outside, he is also up to date on all of his shots, and was treated for worms when he was a puppy… so I have NO idea on what this could be!
Again I will be taking him to the vet TODAY just wanted some input, as i’m really worried about him…Thanks!

Will Having Worms Make A Dog Cough?

I have a female Pit Bull that sometimes coughs. Someone told me this is a symptom of her having worms. She weighs about 60# and has not been fixed.
