Question by Sunshine: Can tapeworms appear in my dogs poo, and another time not?
I found out this morning before going to work that my dog had tapeworms in his poop, and now when I came home and took him out, there weren’t any. I will still take him to the vet but is this normal? Can he have another type of worm that might cause this to happen? Any advice thanks.

it just depends on what type, and how quickly they can reproduce and how often the dog sheds them like that. I would not think this is abnormal, but I would have recommended (guessing that you tossed it) to keep the sample and the worm and bring it to the vet, this leads to a totally accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Question by La C: How long is it in dogs with heartworms from the time of infection to tp when they start to show syptoms?
I have a terrier/border collie mix and she has been treated with heartworm pills 6 months ago but hasn’t had any since….she has been gagging when she gets excited, and I am really worried….by the way,do you think that she has heartworms from the info i’ve given?
Thank you for your answers…I am going to take her to the vet tommorow!!

It varies from dog to dog and depending on the heartworm load. From the info you’ve given, I couldn’t tell you if your dog might have heartworms or heartburn…could be anything. If you live in an area where heartworm is endemic and she hasn’t had heartworm preventative in 6 months then you and she would have to be very lucky for her not to have heartworm. Take her to the vet and get her blood checked. It’s not expensive and it takes less than 15 minutes and then you’ll know for sure.

What do you think? Answer below!

I dont worm my dogs, so i dont know for sure, but i believe the “increase” in worms is her expelling them.
