One of my dogs has tapeworm (found the moving “rice” in his stool.) When I called the vet to set an appointment, they wanted me to bring my other dog in for the medication as well (and charge another office visit…)

The dog with worms was recently adopted from the pound and was a stray prior to that. I haven’t seen any fleas in the house, but I treated the house just to be sure. My other dog does not ever eat the infected dog’s feces or lick his behind. And they are both on revolution to prevent fleas.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to treat my dog for something he may not even have. Can I just wait to see if the evidence of tapeworm appears in that dog? Or is it really necessary to just give them both the meds?

Do All Fleas Carry Tapeworms? Am I At Risk?

I recently discovered that my dog has fleas.
There is a lot of flea dirt in his coat so he must have had them for some time.
He was treated with an allwormer a little over a week ago.
My questions are, do ALL fleas carry tapeworm or do only some of them?
I have searched this site and someone has asked the same question but never given answer to this… everyone just told them that fleas carry tapeworm, not if ALL fleas do.
Also, am I at risk of contracting them if my dog had them before he was wormed? Should I see a doctor?
(My dog does licks my face)
I have googled tape worms and apparently you can have no symptoms and the larvae can create cysts in your liver and even brain!
Please help as this is really worrying me.

I just recently got a puppy and i didn’t know it has worms. They are coming out of her anus so i suppose they are tapeworms. My problem is that i am freaken out because she has been laying in my lap alot and also sleeping in my arms. Is there any way possible that i could get ANYTHING from them? Is there any signs or symptoms i need to look for to ensure that i’m not infected with anything?

Treated Dog For Tapeworms… Where Do The Dead Worms Go?

I found tapeworm infection in my dogs fecal matter. I treated her with Droncit. My question is, once the worming medicine starts to work, where do the dead worms/worm segments go? Will it come out in her poop or what?
Also, are there any preventive steps at home I should be taking to avoid my 2nd dog getting tapeworm? Can they still play together, etc? My 2nd dog has no signs or symptoms and has normal fecal matter.
Knowledgeble answers only please! Thanks :)
