Ringworm sore on dog? Is it still contagious?

Question by :) : Ringworm sore on dog? Is it still contagious?
My sister just got a puppy yesterday and today when we were playing with him, we noticed a little blister on him. Her husband, who was the one who actually bought him, said that the lady who sold the dog to him said that it was treated and is just healing. We all touched him, including my one year old nephew and I’m just worried that we could get it because there is very clearly still the sore from the ring worm even though my brother in law swears we can’t. They’re going to the vet Monday but I was just wondering if it were possible to still have the sore but not be contagious?
Well, the breeder said that it wasn’t contagious and I guess he thought that she would know, but me being a skeptic and all, i think she was just trying to make a sale. Looks like that might be the case. :(
question to hudsongray? I describe it as a blister but it’s just the ringworm sore. Looking at the pics online, it’s definitely ringworm. there seem to be hairs on it, it’s hard to see unless you brush away the fur. We only found it by touching him. Does this mean that it’s healed?

No its contagious until it is gone.

Edit: As long as you wash your hands after you touch the dog you should be fine.

Question by Ollie’s Mom: My dog has hookworms and has been treated….can I still allow him to sleep on my bed?
Had my dog in today for a Vet check and found hookworms. He has been given medication. Is it safe to allow him to continue to sleep on my bed?

Answer by Night_owl
The hookworms are passed in the stool. As long as you are really clean when he defecates, make sure he doesn’t get the poop on him and doesn’t have any left over on his butt, make sure that he doesn’t poop in your bed, you should be okay…although I wouldn’t be kissing him anytime soon either.

My pup has some kind of worms I am thinking it is hookworms but I don’t know. He has be acting very sick now for the last 2 days. Yesterday he kept dry heaving and has black poop.

He needs to see a vet.. any kind of intestinal worms can still come out alive in the poop.

Black poop is ussually an indication that he is bleeding somewhere in the upper digestive tract.. he needs a vet!

When do you pick up the poop? The worms may have arrived AFTER the stool was laid. Also, a dog doesn’t just get dewormed once, make sure she isn’t overdue.

I know about:
roundworms:If a roundworm burden is heavy, a dog may vomit these worms or pass them (whole) in the stool. Roundworms can cause vomiting and diarrhea. check for those.

Hookworms: Hookworms cannot be seen by the naked eye, This parasite has also been known to cause chronic intestinal bleeding, abdominal pain and diarrhea in small children. Some dogs experience significant weight loss, bloody diarrhea, or failure to grow properly. Skin irritation and itching, especially of the paws

Check into all the signs, and if you’re still concerned take a stool sample to your vet. The rescue center should cover the medical bills.

HOPE I HELPED!
