Are people supposed to de-worm their adult dogs?

The vets I’ve taken my dog to have never told me to do so. But then I read online about people who keep de-worming their dogs. After thorough research though, I have learned that de-worming practices are thought to be the cause of auto-immune diseases.

So what have you been told? Has your vet told you to de-worm your dog regularly? I’m not talking about puppies, I know that has to be done… I’m talking about adult dogs with good health.

I’m taking her to the vet in 1 hour, but I’ve been doing some research online and I’m worried. If it’s round worm I guess it can be transmitted to humans. She pooped in the house yesterday and I cleaned it up, but if she has eggs is a regular household cleaner going to kill them? I don’t want her/us to contract more worms! I will ask the vet, but I’m living in Spain and I’d appreciate a US or UK vets input on this one.

Best Vacuum For People With Heavily Shedding Pets?

I’ve rescued a large terrier mix dog (about 55 lbs.), and she’s just finished her heart worm treatment. One of the symptoms of heart worms is dry brittle hair and heavy shedding, not to mention that this is spring so she’s going to be shedding her winter coat anyway.
So there is a Ridiculous amount of hair shedding around from her. I’m brushing her every day and she’s getting groomed on friday with a de-shedding blow out treatment. But in the meantime our brand new bagless vacuum is getting clogged constantly and is just so useless at picking up hair. Is there a brand/kind of vacuum that’s great for people with heavily shedding dogs?

He is an 11 year old Cockerspaniel/Terrier mix. He is coughing a lot, it listless, can’t sit still, very tired a lot, is making weird noises when he breathes. Have you ever had a dog with heartoworm and, if so, did he or she have these symptoms and how did you cure it (what was the cost)?
