My dog was injured with a few cuts on his back, since then, he had been losing weight rapidly. These are a few things that i can observed :
- He seems very thirsty, drink a lot.
- His eyes were waterly.
- He breathe very soundly.
He’s still eats as much as he used to eat and still active.
I suspect its a worm problem that caused it. My dog accidentally drank poison 2 years ago but we managed to saved him. Could damaged kidney symptom show up this late? ( as losing weight could caused by kidney problem)

I’ve got an an appointment to bring my pup to the vet in an hour, but I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this problem before. I know we’re going to pay up the *** to even find the problem as it is, and figured that if I had some guidelines to go by, this might be slightly less time consuming. The vet has not yet been able to find a problem, and this is our third visit in the past three weeks.
My four-year-old Border Collies has been pooping HUGE piles of diarrhea for about three weeks now. At first, the vet figured it was worms and we had her tested for both worms and giardia. The results were negative.
We then figured it might be the Nupro Hip/Joint Supplement we had startd feeding her last month, so we took her off it. Hip Supplements have made her sick before. This also did not work.
Yesterday, she had diarrhea in a kennel after I gave her a bath. Upon further inspected, I noticed the tiny traces of blood in the diarrhea. I immediately called the vet, and will be going to see them (once again) today.
My question is, what could possibly be causing this? I know tests for giardia can be a false negative, and my vet will probably recommend treating her for the parasite regardless of what the test said, but I am concerned that there is an underlying issue we are not seeing. She is fed Solid Gold Hund-N-Flocken, a food we have decided to change (probably to Wellness Core).
Does anyone recognize these symptoms? She isn’t showing any signs of being sick, other than abnormal amounts of feces.
I do think it is something she caught from a foster I had here. About a month ago, I had a mini Aussie with the same condition. After coming back negative in all of his tests, he was pooping a larger amount of blood than the Border Collies is. This was taken care of by the rescue, and I don’t know what came of the situation, but I can ask.
Both of these dogs were de-wormed before this occured.
