Question by Rusty A: after my first 6 month cycle of dog worm medicine ends. how long before I start another cycle.?

Best answer:

Answer by tlctreecare
If you are asking about heartworm medicine you need to give one tablet per month every month so you will need to get more pills from the vet.
You need to give it every month all the time and not take a break from it as if the dog gets bit by a mosquitoe it can get heartworm.

Question by Tracie H: how long should a dog take worm medication when they have worms?

Best answer:

Answer by Christine
Usually a dewormer from the vet is just one dose.
I don’t trust any store-bought dewormers.

Question by Allie: How long does it take for a dog to get rid of a tape worm?
My 100lb 6 year-old choclate lab got a tape worm. Hes had it about two days. I gave him Drontal Plus and want to know when he will throw it up or poop it out.
I did take my dog to the vet. She’s the one who prescribed him the meds.

Did you take it to the vet?? That ‘s a great idea, I wouldn’t play with any kind of worms if my dog had them. Take your animal to a vet, you won’t be sorry

Question by Karen G: How long after a bite does the dog have to start heart worm prevention before he actually has to be treated?
In other words, if they were exposed about a month ago, can we start heart worm prevention without the expensive treatment, or is it too late. They have not been in mosquito”country” until 30 days ago. Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!

Answer by Eloren
You don’t have to do heartworm treatment unless the heartworm test is positive. Take your dog to the vet, have the test done, and as long as it is negative you can go ahead and just do the monthly tablet.
