Question by goldeeloxxz: Does anyone know of medication that can safely kill heartworms in a dog?
I recently rescued a dog that was neglected & abused. We took him to the vet & he was diagnosed with heartworms & other problems. I have treated him for everything but he has the existing worms & treatment I’m told is dangerous and very expensive. I am hoping someone has info & a remedy or meds I can order online that are safe & effective. My family has taken in several unwanted dogs & try to provide a good home where they won’t be abused anymore & we would appreciate input on alternative treatments than what our vets here have to offer. They suggested two injections over a couple of days with observation as he could possibly die when the worms dislodge & try to pass like an emboli causing a stroke. I have heard of a product called HWF (heartworm free) but I don’t know how effective it really is or safe? Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Answer by Shelly C You MUST get the meds from the vet as if you do go with anything else to prevent HWorms you will kill the dog! PLEASE, I know it may be costly, but you must do this properly otherwise you should have the dog put down.
Thanks for taking care of the four legged ones!
Question by violet: how to kill tapeworms in a pregnant dog?
My female dog has tapeworm and is 40 days pregnant. Any ideas on how to get rid of them before I ask the vet?
Best answer:
Answer by Tea More than likely, your vet will tell you that there is not anything that you can do until after whelping. Unfortunately, there are no products on the market that are approved for worming a pregnant or nursing dog.
Question by Ronda H: I’m Ronda, I live in MI. How do I kill hookworm in the ground?
My dog has had hookworm. I want to get rid of it from the ground. How can I do that? Do I have to remove the dirt? If so how deep do I have to go? Someone please help. Thank You
Best answer:
Answer by MB Orrrrrrrrrrrr – you give your dog a readily available pill that kills all manner of worm (e.g. Sentinel by Novartis, Google it), costing $ 9/month. Any method of attacking hookworm in its natural habitat is 1) polluting to the environment, including you and your dog 2) too expensive 3) very likely ineffectual..

Question by Howdy Girl: Does Revolution for Dogs kill tapeworms?
I gave my dog his second monthly treatment of Revolution about a week ago and over the past two days he has been passing what look a lot like rice-sized tapeworm fragments and small white dots that look like salt. Does this mean that he had an unknown tapeworm and the medicine is expelling it (which is good), or does it just mean that he has a tapeworm and it just happened to become noticeable following a dose of Revolution?
I called the Vet and they said that I need to bring them a stool sample for them to test, and the test alone is $ 50 and I won’t be able to get him any medicine right away while they are busy with his poop, but I just feel like if this Revolution stuff has killed the tapeworm and he is now passing it, am I even supposed to be seeking more drugs for him? I am just finding a lot of very mixed and contradictory information about what this medication does and doesn’t do in terms of tapeworms.
