If you can’t afford to properly treat your animal, honestly, you shouldn’t have one. Really, it needs to see a vet.

Question by luv_bug0429: Just got back from vet, how long after de-worming and fluids do dogs gums go back to pink?
My fiance found a puppy today on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. It is a boxer pup and is so skinny. He took him to the vet earlier and he had bloodwork and everything was fine. He got a worm treatment for hookworm and is getting plenty of fluids now. He is eating everytime we feed him too. How long until his gums go back to a healthy pink color? They are still very white.

you can give him liquid baby vitamins with IRON, 1/2 dropper, no more than that, once a day to boost his red cell count up.
Helps especially with victims of fleas or heavy worm infestations. takes about a week…

Question by Javier: I just got a new mattress and the dog peed on it. My puppy has hookworms. Must I throw away the mattress?
Another thing if someone accidentally steps in the pups stool(bare foot) what is the chance the person will get hookworms?
Thank you for you’re help. And I’m in the process of deworming my pup. I give her medicine. I can’t get her the shots till the 11th of next month. So I’ve been giving her meds since I got her.

Hookworms are passed through the stool. That said- if the puppy PEED on the mattress you should be safe from hookworms.

Hookworms I believe CAN be transmitted through the skin- so I would make sure to wash your foot thoroughly and to bleach the area as best as possible in a 1:10 concentration. (1 part bleach to 10 parts water.)

If you start to notice any signs of abdominal cramping, anemia, upset stomach, diarrhea, etc- get yourself to a doctor and make sure to mention your pup had hookworms.

Question by Wyatt’s mama: How are heartworms in dogs spread? My neighbors dog was just diagnoised with them
and my two dogs haven’t been on thier prevenative pills for some time now….One of my dogs have contact with the dog through a fense…they “mouth” at eachother…. but they aren’t in contact with the dogs poop or anything. I mean, is this dog going to be suffering and how long can she live with heartworms? He said as long as she acts happy and is eating he is going to let her be….

The larva is spread thru the dogs blood and the worms grow in the heart. hence heart worms..
The worms will grow until they are killed in their entirety.. The treatment can even kill the dog as well as the worms and then there is days of coughing and difficulty following the tx until all is out of the dogs system..
It is not a treatment to be done lightly but the dog will grow weaker and eventually pass away if not treated.

I just got a puppy and she had 3 parasites even though she was dewormed before.
she has coccidia, giarda, and hookworms
she is on 3 medications right now but im scared that her immune system might not be strong enough for three parasites and could die.
how serious are these infections ? do i need to worry?

Maybe try giving her garlic. Might help. The parasites take time to die off.
