Question by metalneck: If my dog who has been diagnosed with having whips and hookworms?
is receiving the proper meds for it would the stool have blue speckles in it. 12 weeks she will be receiving treatment for it.
My puppy was had a stool sample done and was said to have whips and hookworms. The doctor gave me the medication called Panacur. To be given 1cc/week at 10 doses. There is 11 cc in the syringe he gave me. 1 was given at the doctors. So actually she has 10 weeks to go. 11 all together. I noticed the blue specks in her stool after her first stool after taking the medicine. She had a had done it 41/2 hours after taking the med.

Answer by coldequinox To be sure, ALWAYS consult your veterinarian.
Blue speckles? I work with lots of infested dogs and usually just see worms coming out in their stool. Although, hook can be hard to see sometimes. We don’t generally give treatment for 12 weeks, but there are different meds that do different things.

Maddie is a very cute one year old Dachshund-Terrier mix. This sweet girl came to us from an outlying animal control facility where her time was up. Maddie was not kept on heartworm prevention and has tested positive for Heartworms. We will get her the treatment she needs so she will be on the road to recovery. Maddie is a doll. She has done well with the other dogs, but especially loves the attention she receives from her humans. Maddie promises to be a wonderful canine companion for most any home. www.AtlantaPetRescue.org Video Rating: 0 / 5
Question by Tori C: What are signs of my dog having worms?
We found some small white worms in my dog’s poop. He is 2 yrs old. He is a lab mix. He is usually so good on the leash and good with the cat but he just attacked the cat for no reason and when we took him on a walk and he kept pulling and running. What got into him? We always give him attention and we had him for 4 days. HELP!!!
He took interception or something like that.

Question by janet899: I’ve heard that in Southern California, having a dog on heart worm prevention medicine is not necessary?
I just want to make sure that it’s true. I don’t want to medicate my dog (a one year old Shih Tzu) if it’s not necessary. Heartworm supposedly is the most dangerous in dogs? Currently my dog has been tested free of worms. Is an annual test enough? Or is it better just to give him heartguard or sentinel forever? Which brand is better and are there some less chemical alternatives?

Answer by grey_wolf1233 A dog can get heartworms any were. It dont matter were you go. And b/c its Shi-Tzu (i got 1 too), its more important cuz there more prone to them. Heartworm is one of the most dangerous things a dog canget, it can kill them with in a few days.
Honestly if you want your dog to be safe the heartguard is your best bet, if you dont you could risk the death of your dog.
This question is for people who who really know what they are talking about. Of course, she is going to the vet tomorrow. Today I noticed a small white thing in my year old dog’s eye. I took it out with a tissue and it looked like a tiny worm (smaller than a grain of rice). It wasn’t moving, but I poked at it and it was squishy. If it was a worm, it was dead. She has recently been treated for tapeworms and has no worms in her stool. I will treat her for the tapeworms again in about a week. Has anyone ever had this happen? Vet techs or people with animal experience, what gives?
