Question by TropyWife: Noticed a tapeworm in my dogs feces this AM. He does not have fleas and has always been on Frontline. My other
dog does not have them. They are both indoor shih-tzus and only go out to poop. I will take to Vet on Monday. How do dogs get tapeworms w/no fleas on them?
Can their owners get tapeworms from dog?

Just because there is not a flea at that time, doesn’t mean there never has been. The fleas can still bite your dog, but are then killed by the drug.
I don’t believe you can get the worms from them, but I’m not positive on that.

Get your dog treated.
And in the lawn, after the dog doing his stuff, sray it with the hose really well. It will much up, and it can be used as fertilizer. Same with pee. You have to add water, or it will eat the grass.

I’ve been observing white 1/4 white worm-like things in my dog’s feces. They don’t appear to be moving, and they’re not consistent. They also seem to come out of his anus at night, his bed sometimes has shriveled up little versions of them. They look like small grains of rice. I brought a sample into the vet for a fecal test, and they said he doesn’t have worms. Any ideas on what this could be?
