Question by Dandygirl: How long does it take for ring worm to go away in dogs?
I am fostering two two week old puppies that were recently diagnosed with ringworm. They just started treatment and I am wondering how long it takes for it to go away.
Thanks!

Not sure about that but it is very contagious. YOu could catch it by touching the pups. YOu may need to wear gloves. and make sure their bedding is washed separately. It can be picked up from that too.

Interceptor Flavor Tabs for dogs with tapeworms?

Question by Kelsey: Interceptor Flavor Tabs for dogs with tapeworms?
When I bought my puppy last week at 8 wks the breeder said they had dewormed him. That night I noticed there were were some worms in his poop (which I’ve figured out is tapeworms). At first I thought by him pooping them out he was ‘deworming’ but now that they’re still there after a week I’ve read that tapeworms need a different medicine than other worms, and they shouldn’t appear in the feces after you give them the correct medicine.
I got a free sample of Interceptor (treats all kinds of worms) from the vet. If i give this to him now, will it make him have too much medicine in his system since he’s been dewormed with a different medication? I don’t won’t to over do it since he’s still only 9 wks. Has anyone else tried Interceptor for tapeworms?

I have both of my dogs on Interceptor, and it does work. However before “double medicating” Like you said I would just ask the vet real quick. It has been a week plus though so you should be fine. Your deworming medicine that he was given initially should be disipated.

Does Revolution for Dogs kill tapeworms?

Question by Howdy Girl: Does Revolution for Dogs kill tapeworms?
I gave my dog his second monthly treatment of Revolution about a week ago and over the past two days he has been passing what look a lot like rice-sized tapeworm fragments and small white dots that look like salt. Does this mean that he had an unknown tapeworm and the medicine is expelling it (which is good), or does it just mean that he has a tapeworm and it just happened to become noticeable following a dose of Revolution?

I called the Vet and they said that I need to bring them a stool sample for them to test, and the test alone is $ 50 and I won’t be able to get him any medicine right away while they are busy with his poop, but I just feel like if this Revolution stuff has killed the tapeworm and he is now passing it, am I even supposed to be seeking more drugs for him? I am just finding a lot of very mixed and contradictory information about what this medication does and doesn’t do in terms of tapeworms.

Nope.

Revolution kills fleas and ticks.

Question by luv_bug0429: Just got back from vet, how long after de-worming and fluids do dogs gums go back to pink?
My fiance found a puppy today on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. It is a boxer pup and is so skinny. He took him to the vet earlier and he had bloodwork and everything was fine. He got a worm treatment for hookworm and is getting plenty of fluids now. He is eating everytime we feed him too. How long until his gums go back to a healthy pink color? They are still very white.

you can give him liquid baby vitamins with IRON, 1/2 dropper, no more than that, once a day to boost his red cell count up.
Helps especially with victims of fleas or heavy worm infestations. takes about a week…
