Hookworms can usually only be diagnosed from a fecal exam under a microscope. I would ask your veterinarian what would be best. In the meantime, hookworm larvae can live in the soil where your pet uses the bathroom. It’s imperative that stools are picked up daily so that your pet has less chance of reinfecting itself.

Question by Gimme A Break: Is organic beef less likely to have parasites? (for RAW feeders) It’s for my dog. :) ?
I am back to feeding RAW for my dog. Instead of the commercially prepared frozen raw, I have switched to butcher-shop meat raw. I wondered though, is organic meat better to use in regards to parasites or does it still need to be frozen?
Thanks!
I realize any meat, organic or not can have bacteria if it is not handled properly but I am asking if it is less-likely to have parasites than regular meat.

Organic meat can have all kinds of nasty bacteria and parasites too. All meat can harbor germs; it depends on how it has been handled after being cut, not on how the cow was fed. As long as the meat has been kept cold and clean it should be fine.

edit: No, there is no difference between organic and conventionally raised beef. Organic beef isn’t magically resistant to parasites.

Panacur. Talk to your vet. Don’t use over the counter meds on a pregnant dog.

Loud Little Screaming Dog. LOUD.

Taco Bell Dog, MMMM. Her name is Peaches, she also goes by ‘worm.’

For this episode of Dog & Croc, writer/performers Chris and Nat decided to tone down the violence and inject more of a plot into the proceedings. Confident that this would alleviate the number of complaints the BBC were receiving for broadcasting it, Chris and Nat were dismayed to learn that it was the most complained-about piece of British television in 1998.
