Question by luv_bug0429: Just got back from vet, how long after de-worming and fluids do dogs gums go back to pink?
My fiance found a puppy today on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. It is a boxer pup and is so skinny. He took him to the vet earlier and he had bloodwork and everything was fine. He got a worm treatment for hookworm and is getting plenty of fluids now. He is eating everytime we feed him too. How long until his gums go back to a healthy pink color? They are still very white.

Answer by Kiki B you can give him liquid baby vitamins with IRON, 1/2 dropper, no more than that, once a day to boost his red cell count up.
Helps especially with victims of fleas or heavy worm infestations. takes about a week…

Question by opinions2thoughts: How do I get rid of a whipworm infestation in my back yard?
My dog keeps getting whipworms. We give him Interceptor every month, but they keep coming back. Our backyard must be infested with them. Are there any chemicals that will kill them? I can move the dog temporarily if need be, but don’t want to have to dig up my whole back yard. Please help.

Answer by dragonflyspit First thing is to be sure you’re actually getting rid of the whipworms in the dog. Whipworms are pretty resistant to treatment so the dog needs to be treated every few weeks for at least 2 or 3 treatments — and a fecal must be done a few days after each treatment to be sure they are gone.
Second: Whipworms are passed in fecal material and take about 1 month to mature in the environment before they can re-infect a new (or the same) host. A dog gets an infection from ingesting fecal material. This can be from eating stool, or from licking paws, playing with toys, etc. that might have fecal material on them. Thoroughly wash all of your dogs toys and be sure he isn’t eating any stool (gross as it is, some dogs will do this)
Third: To break the cycle, you’ll need to thoroughly clean your back yard of any stool. Once that is done, you need to pick up after your dog each time he goes, before the eggs in the stool have a chance to get into the environment. If you continue to do this for several months, you should be able to eliminate the infective stage.
Good luck!

Mosquitoes carry a number of diseases [in Suffolk we are most concerned with WNV, EEE and Dog Heart Worm] including Malaria, Yellow Fever, West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis and Dog Heart Worm. All of which can cause serious and even fatal health risks to humans and animals. The City of Suffolk is helping you Smack Back by making mosquito dunks free to Suffolk citizens. Whats a mosquito dunk you ask? Its not the kind you see in basketballAnd its not the kind that requires cookies and milk. We are talking about a biological pesticide that kills mosquito larvae living in stagnant water around your home. You place them in areas of standing water or artificial containers that have, or will have mosquito larvae. The dunks will work for about a month. You can also do your part to control the mosquito population by picking up and disposing of trash and debris, throwing away old tires that can hold water, and by dumping out any standing water in flower pots and containers around your household. Dont wait until its too late, smack back by picking up your mosquito dunks today! Just come to the City Municipal Building or any of these local fire stations to pick one up. Question by Valerie: There is a worm-like thing coming out of my dog’s back leg. Can anyone help me?
There is a worm like creature or cyst coming out of my dogs upper back leg. I’ve never seen anything like it before. We thought it was a tick and my mom tried to burn it off but it only got bloody. It’s about an inch long and is not very thick, about a centimeter. I have looked all over online trying to find anything that it could be. Can anyone help me?

I was online and they said that some worms that a dog has can live in the dirt outside and reinfect your dog are there any kinds of yard treatments I can use for that? I mean I think it would be useless to treat my dog for his problem being that he is an outside dog and then he gets reinfected and I’ll be left with the same problem as before.
