Question by Dandygirl: How long does it take for ring worm to go away in dogs?
I am fostering two two week old puppies that were recently diagnosed with ringworm. They just started treatment and I am wondering how long it takes for it to go away.
Thanks!

Not sure about that but it is very contagious. YOu could catch it by touching the pups. YOu may need to wear gloves. and make sure their bedding is washed separately. It can be picked up from that too.

Question by Javier: I just got a new mattress and the dog peed on it. My puppy has hookworms. Must I throw away the mattress?
Another thing if someone accidentally steps in the pups stool(bare foot) what is the chance the person will get hookworms?
Thank you for you’re help. And I’m in the process of deworming my pup. I give her medicine. I can’t get her the shots till the 11th of next month. So I’ve been giving her meds since I got her.

Hookworms are passed through the stool. That said- if the puppy PEED on the mattress you should be safe from hookworms.

Hookworms I believe CAN be transmitted through the skin- so I would make sure to wash your foot thoroughly and to bleach the area as best as possible in a 1:10 concentration. (1 part bleach to 10 parts water.)

If you start to notice any signs of abdominal cramping, anemia, upset stomach, diarrhea, etc- get yourself to a doctor and make sure to mention your pup had hookworms.

What do you think? Answer below!

Dogs Ringworm not going away – 3 months?

Question by Amanda G: Dogs Ringworm not going away – 3 months?
My 6 mo old dog has had ringworm since she was 3months. It must be ridiculously stubborn strain because she transmitted to me 4 times, and after a month of twice-daily antifungal cream no luck on it going away from me either – and usually ringworm disappears in a week. She’s tried apple cider vinegar and the creme and the antibiotics the vet gave her. Nothing is helping. Please. Some advice? I am going to the doc on Friday, but I need something for her.
its very easy for dogs to transmit ringworm to other dogs and humans. Simply touching her while putting on her meds would of done it.
She has some hair growing back inside the ring, should I shave it all off to properly treat it or just the hair around it? I’ll go back to the vet tomorrow.
