My dog had heart worm for a while and we want to treat it but we need to know how much it costs,

Every time my maltese finds a dead worm on the ground he will take his face and rub it on the worm. What is it about dead worms?

My parents have had lots of dogs and never gave them heart worm pills and none of them got heart worm. I am just curious if I really should give them to my puppy or not? my cousin was playing with his dog lastnight and my aunt told him not to let the kiss him becuz he(the dog) had worms, and she also said that if he did let the dog give him kisses that he would get the worms too. Im just wondering if this is all true.
