Does a dog need a heart worm test every year?
My dog has never missed a month of her medication and now my vet claims she has to be tested every year for heart worm.
Is that necessary?

I don’t know if it makes a difference but she is a Jack Russell Terrier.
when a mosquito bite a dog that is not taking the heart worm guard preventive medicines does that mean the dog will get heart worm 100% ?
or does the mosquito have to be infected or some sort ?
Thanks!!
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bring my dog over to my boyfriend’s mom’s house and just the other day I found out that my dog has worm’s. She is worried that her dog’s might get worm’s by smelling my dog’s poop. Just wondering if it is possible.
Yes I brought my dog to the vet and she got treated.
I wonder what the chances of any given dog having heart worm are if not on preventive. My children love this dog already and I would hate to have her tested and find out she has it. Am I worrying to much, or is this a legitimate concern?
They have not and do not test them. I would have to adopt her and have her tested myself.
