White worm around my dog’s anus?
I have a eleven month old rottweiler mix. She lives in the backyard with another dog, a boxer. They don’t go anywhere but to the front yard. For a couple of days now, I have seen my rottweiler mix sit and slide on her butt, like if she was itching down there. Today I decided to lift her tail to check what is going on. There were about 3 white worms going in her butt, they looked nasty and she started bitting me so I didn’t look further. What kind of worm could this be? Could it be contagious to humans? I have a two year old boy and I am pregnant. I am worried. The vet will be coming tomorrow but for now I would appreciate any info. Thanks.
she also has a lot of fleas. I have been using that liquid injection to apply every month but it looks like it’s not working anymore.
thank you all. another thing, if she has tapeworms and they are contagious to people through fleas, could we all have the tapeworms since I have found some fleas in our room? Or it will only be contagious if we eat the fleas? Thanks a lot.

most likely tape worms
they get them from ingesting a flea that was carrying the worm eggs
they are totally gross but not contagious to humans unless you eat fleas.
take her to vet, they can give her medication. then treat the dog for fleas
Could be a roundworm, tapeworm, whipworm, hookworm, etc…and yes people can catch these. Worming will take care of that but I’d pick up all the poop (or if you are preggers, get someone else to do it). The Boxer has them too…pretty much 99% guarantee. Make sure both are wormed.
Just to be safe you might want to keep the 2 year old away from the dog till the vet gets there, and have him check out the boxer to make sure he doesn’t have anything starting either, her bottom hurts so that’s the reason for the biting.
poor thing, I hope she feels better, email me when you found out=>
That sounds like a tapeworm. Yes, tapeworms are contagious to humans so especially with a toddler, and expecting another baby, it’s important to make sure that your dog is regularly de-wormed, gets regular vet check-ups, and gets flea/tick/heart worm preventatives on a regular basis! All the best to you with your dog, its good that you’re getting her the medication. Ask your vet about regular deworming. Reg deworming would prevent this problem from occurring again.
P.S. make sure that the boxer she lives with is also dewormed, you he might give the worms to her again.
Your dog definitely needs to be wormed, because you have a few dogs it would be a good idea to worm them all the same time each month. As far as fleas I swear by Frontline Plus for Flea & Tick Control. Once they are Worm and Flea free they will be happier and healthier. Good Luck
