Why does my dog like to rub his face on a dead worm? ?

Every time my maltese finds a dead worm on the ground he will take his face and rub it on the worm. What is it about dead worms?

i think its the sent of the worms that it likes (it likes to dig…the worm smells like digging….

idk. maybe he likes the scent or it smells familiar to him.
I dont know what it is about the Dead worms but I thought id share My dogs do it also !
