I found a rubber band like thing in my dog’s stool. Could it be a worm?

My dog has had some loose stool accidents in the house today. I noticed what looked like half of a rubber band in his stool. It wasn’t moving, just a flat, half-circle thing about 3 inches long. Could it be a worm? It’s hard to tell because it just looked like a rubber band, not a living thing??? But he does have an upset belly too…

Yes!! Worms are dead when passed out by the dog. Get the dog to the vet who will prescribe anti-worm pills.
There will usually be more than one if the dog has worms so it’s pretty safe to say he got into a rubberband which is likely causing the upset tummy. Try giving a half of a Pepto tablet which will calm the tummy down and some plain yogurt and white rice.
If it’s not a rubberband then it’s quite possible it’s a tapeworm or roundworm. See your vet; take a stool sample. Tapeworms do not usually pass unless the animal has been wormed (they are connected to the intestinal wall) Roundworms on the other hand float freely through the digestive system and sometimes are even vomited out (they look more like spaghetti however)
Get the dog on flea drops, also heartworm preventative, given monthly, and you won’t have to worry about intestinal worms.

Ew, that sounds like a tape worm. Most puppies have worms and need to be dewormed right away. A dog will get worms if he is outside often or has fleas. Take him to the vet and bring a stool sample. Getting rid of the worms will only take a pill or two and is relatively inexpensive.
Do get it checked out. It could be worm, or it could just be a rubberband.

How often do you have your dog dewormed?
Every dog should be dewormed and if you feed your dog on pork you should cook it thoroughly and never, never give it raw.
Best to give him dog food.

It sounds like a round worm. Im not quite sure I would call your vet or bring him in. It is a possibility that he ate a rubber band and it came out through his poo. Good luck!

My guess is it’s just a rubber band. My pekepoo occasionally swallows one of my foam earplugs. If one pops out in the night, I don’t always find it before he does. They always come out the next day, and there’s no doubt as to what they are. Dogs swallow all kinds of things, so be careful!
It could be that your dog at a rubber band and he will have an upset stomach until it has all passed. They are like kids they will eat anything they get there little teeth on. If you see the other piece(of the rubber band) pass and he starts acting better watch what you have on the ground from now on.If he still doesn’t feel better in a while I would take him to the vet. If it is something he ate and it doesn’t pass it could block his intestines and cause serious damage
