What Is Wrong With My Female Cat?
My cat has been dragging her butt “scooting” on the ground and then I noticed increased trips to the litter box with little urination. She has been more vocal lately but still affectionate. I have had her for four years and she has never once peed on anything but within the last week she has been peeing on blankets and today she peed in the bathtub and I noticed her pee was pinkish she even tried to pee on my sleeping brother. I’m fairly certain this is a UTI. However, that doesn’t explain the scooting. Anyone have any suggestions? I am going to make her an appointment tomorrow for the vet. Anyone have any idea what the cost range will be? Also, my roommates have three dogs and two others were visiting for a while. Im worried the scooting could be from worms. Any other ideas? How long before contact would it take for symptoms to occur? Thank you in advance for any help. I’m very worried. Please assure me she isn’t going to die. She’s only four.

Scooting is NEVER from worms. It is usually because the anal glands are full and the cat (or dog) is trying to empty them because they are uncomfortable. It is also possible that your cat has a Urinary Tract Infection. Get your cat in to see the vet. If the problem goes on too long, it could manifest itself into not using the litterbox.
If her urine is “pinkish” you should not wait until tomorrow to take her to the vet. There is blood in her urine and it can be very serious.
It sounds as though your cat is in a lot of pain and is trying co communicate this to you by meowing and urinating on things. Trust your instincts which are telling you that there is something wrong and please get her some medical help.
It either has worms, or constipation.
happends to my cat all the time.
take it to the vet as quick as you can. they will see whats really wrong with it!
take it as soon as you can.
its nothing major but its worth getting checked out incase its something serious.
Worms sound likely.
She is not going to die. Considering that you are taking her to the vet, if it is anything life-threatening, you are going to catch it in plenty of time. If your neighbors dogs were visiting, then worms are the only real logical answer for the scooting. Also, your cat could very well have a UTI like you suspect. I do not know how much this will cost you, but to assure that your kitty-cat will be fine, try not to take the cheap way out! You get what you pay for when it comes to things like that, and it will be good for you (and your kitty) to know that she is safe. Also, if she still seems affectionate, there is probably a medical issue there. Usually when cats act out like that, it is because they are upset at their owners. Usually this is caused by not being home as much, not giving to cat enough attention, forgetting to feed it once, etc. Just make sure you set up the appointment!
Good luck!
yes it is most likely a combination of worms and a serious uti! our cat gets stones that block his urinary tract and he has blood in his pee, and tries to pee everywhere including on my sleeping sons head! but most of the time it is in the bath tub! when they have uti they go to where there is water like the tub or a sink! you need to get her to the vet soon! the longer she has the uti her kidneys could get damaged because she wont be passing as much urine as she should and it will get backed up. the vet will most likely put her on an antibiotic maybe some fluids ( depending on the severity) and will probally suggest a diet of urinary tract health cat food. i recently learned that if you go to http://www.petmeds.com they have a lot of very cheap meds to help keep the urinary tract healthy that your doctor probally wont give you ( well ours dont) uti problems are usually reoccurring so keeping some of those items in stock would be use full and may save you on vet bills! but whatever you do, dont wait uti and “stones” are nothing to mess with! good luck to you and your kitty! i almost forgot, i meant to say crystals instead of stones, that is what the vet will call it!
Don’t worry she isn’t going to die. The scooting is probably worms but also check to make sure she doesn’t have any loose feces stuck to her fur near her butt. It defiantly sounds like a UTI. She wouldn’t get the worms from the dogs. If she was never wormed than she would already have them. But the worms could be from fleas if the dogs have them. The cat eats a flea from grooming it gives them worms. Price would vary from vet to vet. Good luck with you kitty and she will be fine after some antibiotics and wormier.
sounds like a UTI, the scooting may not be for her bum, but for her vulva (may be its itchy?)
its also possible that the stress of the new people/dogs in the house may have started this. cost range will depend on what country you are in, and what type of area. city-based vets tend to be more expensive that those on the outskirts.
it could very well be worms, take a poo sample to the vet and have them put it under their microscope.
the symptoms ARE occuring!!! we cant assure you whether your cat is going to die or not, only a VET can do that
