Doberman Terrier Losing Massive Weight In Just 2 Weeks?
My dog was injured with a few cuts on his back, since then, he had been losing weight rapidly. These are a few things that i can observed :
- He seems very thirsty, drink a lot.
- His eyes were waterly.
- He breathe very soundly.
He’s still eats as much as he used to eat and still active.
I suspect its a worm problem that caused it. My dog accidentally drank poison 2 years ago but we managed to saved him. Could damaged kidney symptom show up this late? ( as losing weight could caused by kidney problem)

Doberman Pinscher ~ “Pinscher” is German for “Terrier”
There are a number of possible causes for sudden weight loss, none of which I would want to hazard a guess at online. Your local vet is best placed to assess your Dobermann & refer to a specialist for treatment if appropriate.
I would strongly advise making an urgent appointment to see your local vet, as sudden weight loss requires veterinary attention.
I hope your Dobermann has something benign.
In regards to another answer, Pinscher IS German for Terrier…..the word Pinscher may have become known to describe dogs that have their ears and tails docked and cropped, but the word literally means Terrier.
Anyway, this dog needs a vet. A kidney problem could present itself later after years of damage or it could be something else. But either way, you need a vet pronto. Weight loss is never a good sign.
Oh my, this early made me cry reading it, just a week ago our dog was put down due to kidney cancer, the cancer was too severe to treat. He had increased thirst, one watery eye and his breathing was laboured. Please take your dog to the vet and get him checked out, I’ll for you that it isn’t serious. Good luck.
Also he wasn’t eating and was very thin, the vets didn’t know why till the ultra sound.
First off the doberman is not a terrier unless you have a doberman terrier mix. Its doberman pinscher
Most likely its a kidney problem but you have to take the dog to the vet to get x-rays to see. Your best bet is to take the dog to the vet.
Terrier meaning terra which means ground which the doberman has nothing to do with.
pinscher doesnt mean terrier anyways, it means to grip or pinch
What did the vet say?
You haven’t been letting your dog lose a “massive” amount over two weeks without taking him to the vet, have you?
why have you not seen your vet?!?!?!
