Help Me Please????(:?
Okay… So I posted this yesterday:
My 4 1/2 month old Great Dane mix has worms, at least I think so.
My dad said He saw some in her stool when He took her out this evening. I am gonna call the vet tomorrow and see what I should do. But She doesn’t really have any other symptoms. She doesn’t have a big belly.. Well no bigger than usual. And She runs around and plays a lot. But I still need to take her to the vet right? And get some de-wormer?
I pretty sure She got it from my sister’s kitten (which she doesn’t take to the vet or anything), because my dog got into her poop a a few days ago… She got into it like 3 or 4 times. It drives me insane! It’s so gross!!!!! lol.
BTW.. She’s up to date on all her shots.. Except maybe one that she needs to get in a couple weeks, but I just took her Saturday and she got Rabies and something else. I can’t remember. lol.
I’m gonna call tomorrow and see when they can fit her in, but I’m not sure if it’ll be tomorrow. And I really at least want to start de-worming her ASAP because I’m going to have her spayed on the 1st of July.
Now.. On to today’s question:
I’ve tried calling the vet like all morning and ever time I’ve called there has either been no answers or the phone is busy.
So, I was wondering what I should do? Should I just wait and call later on tonight. Or should I just drive up there w/o my dog and tell them what I think is wrong w/ her? Thanks!

Yes, you need to de-worm her. You can just bring in a fresh fecal sample to the vet, but if you have no experience in that area, then you should see the vet. Many times it takes more than one treatment to rid your dog of worms.
Your dog is scheduled for spaying July 1st, so you need to inform your vet about the worms and ask if they will still spay as scheduled.
If your dog has fleas, you need to treat her for fleas, too.
With my vet, I can just take a stool sample in (no dog) for testing. If the test is positive for worms, you’ll take your dog in to get her weighed and the vet will give you the correct de-wormer. I’d be taking a stool sample in today because she’s a young puppy and you can’t leave her if she’s got worms.
Even when dogs have worms they are playful. And your sister has to take he kitten to the vet or else she will die. You should call today. Plus, she should really do something about that poor kitten.
Ask your sister to move the cat’s litter box where your dog can’t get to it, otherwise your dog will continue to get worms if it eats the cat poop.
Also tell your sister to be a responsible owner and take proper care of her kitten and worm it regularly. She also needs to use a flea preventative on the kitten or your dog will catch fleas from it.
If you call the vet and ask for an all wormer they’ll probably let you to come and buy it without needing to see your dog as you had her in recently. It must be an ALL wormer not one that only does a couple of worm species.
