My dog has been treated several times with a liquid mixture. We usually put it in his food. My dog is an outside dog so im not sure he poops more than usual when he gets the treatment. However when I used to work at the animal clinic dogs who were getting treated for this seem to have no problems. Just ask your vet too be sure.

Whipworms tend to cause loose stools and diarhea so treating them will help firm them up. He shouldn't need extra time outside. There are pills or liquid. Your vet will choose whichever he thinks will treat what he sees on the fecal ie. if there is something besides whipworms.
