Does Anybody Know The Shots Dogs Get…?

…and the ages they are supposed to get them starting from birth?
There was a man who gave away an unwanted chihuahua puppy that I now own and I doubt she has had any shots.
The man said she was born back in April of 2008
I think there is a possibility that she may have some type of worm due to lack of shots.
I would appreciate it if somebody told me the shots a dog is supposed to get and when they are supposed to get them.
I also want to know the symptoms of heart and tapeworm.
Thanks

Vaccines: DHLPP – Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parinfluenza, and canine Parvovirus. Don’t forget Rabies. Your vet will set up a vaccine schedule.
The most common symptom of advanced heartworm is coughing, though if it’s advanced, it may not be able to be treated. If caught early enough, it can be treated but in the early stages there are no symptoms. You can have the vet test for heartworms.
Symptoms of worms are scooting, blood in stool, increased appetite, vomiting, lethargy and you may even be able to see them in the stool or vomit. Worms are easily treated.
You can often see the dried sections of tapeworm around the dogs anus. They resemble rice grains.
Dogs will often scoot around on their rear end due to the irritation.
You may see the moving segments of tapeworm in the dog’s poop.
Your vet may examine a smear from your dogs anus under a microscope.
Every dog should be vaccinated for distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, (DHP) and rabies. Dogs that are regularly boarded, attend obedience classes or are shown should be protected with a Bordatella (kennel cough) vaccine.
my dogs get a rabies shot and a combination with distemper i believe it is …. they also take heart worm medicine . if yo take her to the vet they can heart worm test her and see if she has them and give her her shots .. you can get shots for i believe they are good for three years and my dogs take a heartworm med pill once a month..you have a small dog so the heart worm meds shouldnt be too expensive and i dont think shots are either i have large dogs and the meds for hear worms are much for a small dog you can buy 6 months at a time .last year i went i tihnk the shots were like $60 to $70 for 3 years.. i have large dogs and the hear worm med its like $ 45 for 6 months being a small dog its probably around 30 if that .. i am in missouri it might be higher where you are ….
Puppies should have their first shots at 4 to 6 weeks, second set about two weeks later and third set two weeks after the second. They should also be wormed at that time. Your puppy should have already had those shots but you are fairly sure she has not. I would take her to the vet and tell him that so he can get her started. He can also give you a good worming med that will take care of the parasites you mention. I can’t really tell you what the symptoms are other than tape worm causes weight loss. Good luck with your puppy and thank you for giving her a loving home.
since your dog is past he puppy stage you need to get it to a vet and have all vaccines given to it.
They do not get worms from lack of shots.
Since it has not have any vet care I would say it could have worms.
That is something the vet can tell you also.
Tapeworms will make the dog thin. You will see small peices of rice in their poo if it is infested with tapes.
Your vet can do a hearworm test and start it on a once a month precentative.
good luck. take good care of her and she will be grateful.
my advice is to take the dog to a local veterinarian for a general health exam and the vet will be the best person to advise you on what shots are needed as well as test for parasites internal and external. good luck to you.
