My Puppy Has Worms And Is Now Sick, Need Help Asap!?
ok so details:
- she is about 2 months old
- one of the puppies of the litter had worms, but she looked healthy always running playing and being destructive
-we didn’t notice any symptoms until yesterday when she didn’t want to eat, poop, play.
- she drinks very little water on occassions but other than that nothing goes into her stomach.
-all she does is sleep
last night she pooped out worms and it was then that we realized she did have them.
I went to my local Petsmart and bought a de-wormer for her but the thing is it is recommended that she be at least 12 weeks where as she is about 9. and it said not to give it to them if they are already sick.
i honestly don’t have any money to take her to the vet and the only thing i could afford was the de-wormer and a can of dog food to mix the medication in.
we forced the pill since she didn’t want to eat it, but she puked it up (i think) and well I’m scared.
i don’t know when i will have money any time soon.
should i keep giving her the de-wormer pill? or is there any other way i could get those worms out of her???
PLEASE HELP!

If you have no money to properly take care of your dog – why did you get the dog? I personally, would follow the directions on the box and not give her the pill. You should find the money to take her to the vet. Sometimes, local humane societies can assist as well. Call them.
I would keep giving her the de-wormer, but buy it from the vet, and they should have it at a low cost. It’s better to buy it from the vet, because they have animal medication and it should work better than just cheaper brands from the grocery store. So I hope your dog gets better, and if you could just even ask the vet what they can do for a low cost. I hope this helps
Try to find a low cost vet in the area. Products from petsmart are not as effective as stuff you can get at a vets and you are probably going to spend the same amount of money trying to find something that works at petsmart versus just going to get something you know will work at a vets. Take the worm in or describe it to the vet.
Honestly,if you really care about the puppy, I think the best thing to do is to take the puppy to the Human Society, and surrender it. The will give it the proper medicine, and make sure it gets a good home.
If you can’t afford a pet, then give it a second chance, and get a puppy later in your life, when your more financially secure.
Probably not going to inspire warm fuzzies with this answer, but if you can’t afford to take her to the vet you shouldn’t have her.
She needs the wormers you get from the vets not the ones from a petstore. Especially when it specifically said not to give under 12 weeks and you gave her at 9 weeks.
Agree also with the poster who said if you can’t afford to take the dog to the vets then don’t keep the dog.
She needs a decent wormer only, and if you give her the other rubbish you could make her really poorly. They might sell them to you without a consultation if you ask, as you can get them online in UK. Must be somewhere online in the US surely.
I know you can’t afford it, but you still need to take your puppy to a vet. You should never feed a dog medicine without taking them to the vet first. Your puppy could be allergic to the pills. Also, since your puppy is already sick, the pills won’t work. Take your puppy to the vet as soon as possible, as it sounds like she has a very serious problem. You need to find some way to take the puppy to the vet, or she could get much worse.
