If I were you, I would take him to another vet. This shouln’t be going on for a year! If the vet can’t find the answer, a good vet would refer you to someone who they think can. So if you they’re not helping go somewhere else.
There are dogs that are not able to intake the nutrients and vitamins in their food. If your dog has frequent and large stools, this is a sign of not absorbing the nutrients. The food is just passing through him. This happens sometimes when poor quality food is bought for a dog. Usually a change in the dogs diet will help. Try giving him a bland diet like boiled white chicken and rice and monitor his weight to see if he gains.
Also, whipworm eggs are not often seen in stool samples and are hard to definitively diagnose. A symptom is chronic weight loss. Talk to your vet about treating for whipworms.
With a great appetite, I doubt you are dealing with a cancer, but that is another possibility.
A year?
My dog has not had this problem, but in your case, I would look online for all the dog sicknesses possible in this case.
A year is definitely long for a dog to be sick. It may be pneumonia, but i highly doubt it.
The only advice that I can give you is to go to another vet.
take the dog to a vet
