Why Does My Dog Shake, Pant, Drool And Legs Give Way ??
for no specific reason my yorkie will start to drool, shake, pant while he is wide awake. If he trys to stand up his legs give way. What do you think this is ?my vet said poss epilepsy, however as he is 2 years old and that these “episodes” happen few and far between she does not want him to be on meds. He has had these while relaxing at home, out playing in the garden etc and he has had around maybe 5 all together and they are months apart. He is up to date on vaccinations/frontline/worming. What can you suggest i do while he is having them as i can not leave him as he wants to follow me and he cant follow me as his legs give way. Has any one eles had these symptoms in a dog ? what do you do ? All suggestions are greatly appreciated thank you

My guess is that it’s a seizure, like the vet says. Nothing you can do for him if she doesn’t want him on meds. I suggest that you just stay near him and comfort him while he’s having one instead of walking away and making him follow you as you know he will. I wouldn’t suggest petting him, he might bite while in the seizure and not be able to control that. just be a presence and talk soothingly to him and give him loves when it’s over.
Sounds like epilepsy. A mild case thank goodness.
Since it happens every few months or so, just keep him comfortable when it does happen. Keep him close to you and consult your vet often for any questions or concerns you have.
Just stick with what the vet says.
