What Is Wrong With My Dog? Please Read Symptoms! I Will Be Taking Him To The Vet Today?
Before I go into it, I AM taking him to the vet TODAY, I already have my appointment but I would like some input as to what it might be:
My dog (a weimarener x) has been having extremely runny stool since Tuesday (at first I thought he just ate something he wasn’t supposed to), but since it’s gotten worse he’s lost his appetite and won’t drink very much either.
He is 9 months old, and the past two nights he’s been waking up to be outside and again his stool is extremely runny. He ALWAYS sleeps through the night and so getting up to go is unusual for him…Last night and this morning he has been shivering when he sleeps and that’s all he wants to do is sleep.
Also, he has started to not put pressure on his back right leg. I made him some rice/beef mixture an hour ago and he ate that fine and drank a few sips of water, I have also been giving him some ice cubes to try and hydrate him.
He is an indoor dog and is the only dog and is always on a leash when he is outside, he is also up to date on all of his shots, and was treated for worms when he was a puppy… so I have NO idea on what this could be!
Again I will be taking him to the vet TODAY just wanted some input, as i’m really worried about him…Thanks!

Be sure to bring in a stool sample (the fresher the better) when you go in for your appointment. Runny stools can be caused by a variety of things. Just because he was dewormed as a puppy does not mean that he hasn’t been exposed to worms and picked them up since then. Also, giardia is contagious and will cause diarrhea. If he did eat something he shouldn’t have it could have triggered a bacterial overgrowth or inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). The leg probably doesn’t have anything to do with the GI symptoms but your vet will check it out while you’re there.
I’m sorry, I wish I had the answer for you, but if he will drink anything, go to a drugstore and get some of the clear Pedialyte (I don’t know if that’s spelled correctly) so he doesn’t get too dehydrated. I hope he gets well!
I’m glad to see that you have a Vet appt., unlike most of the people on here who ask questions about their sick dog, but never follow through with going to the Vet. Anyway, I don’t think the back leg issues has anything to do with the loose stool. Your Weim might have some type of bacterial infection or Ghiardia. The let problem could be many things, such as an injury, hip or joint problem, or even something as simple as Pano. (Kind of like growing pains in dogs.) I’m guessing that the Vet will want to do a complete blood panel, as well as an x-ray or two. Good luck, and I hope your pup is feeling better real soon.
Ok, recently my 3 year old golden retriever was very ill for about a week with a runny stomach, she also went out of her normal character and was acting very depressed, we took he to the vet and he gave us a course of antibiotics and some stuff to put in her water to make her drink, also he advised us to put her on a very bland diet until she was better.
Rice cooked on the stove boiled for 20 minutes and well-done scrambled eggs mixed together 3 times a day.
Also he said to give her Imodium(human form) every time she had the runs.
for us this work well and she was back to her old self in no time.
Ofc do not give her anything until you seen your vet as it may be some thing else.
Good luck and i hope your doggie is beter soon
