Hair loss accompanies a lesion that looks kind of like a ciggarette burn, circular in nature with a white part in the middle. Take him or her to the vet, ring worm is a contagious fungal infection of the skin…it can be passed on to humans!
see http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ringwor… for more information.
Yes it’s extremely visable. People can get this also.
It’s NOT a worm, it’s a fungus on the skin.
If would probably be red, inflamed, and usually in the shape of a circle.
Ringworm is a fungus, not a worm and it will not show up in a routine parasite screen. It usually shows up as hair loss in a circular pattern. It fluoresces under UV light. It is contagious to people so take the dog to the vet unless you want horribly itchy, flaky, scabby patches all over.
Go to the VET for a test, and they can give you the medicine you need right away.
You will know if your dog has ringworm if you can see some spots of hair loss in its body. These spots are circular, scaly areas with raised edges, and appear usually around the head, ears, tail and feet. But then again, the symptoms are relative to each animal. Some don’t exhibit hair loss at all. It is always best to have your pet checked by a veterinarian.
Once you dog is proven to have ringworm infection, treat it as soon as possible as ringworm can easily spread through direct contact, which makes humans susceptible to getting infected with it also. You can apply anti-ringworm treatment such as Fungafite Antifungal Ringworm Cream, which is available online (http://www.petshed.com), so you can get rid of those nasty ringworms right away.
usually you will see them in the stool or vomit…though sometimes they are too small. Your dog will act very lethargic. Take a stool sample to the vet to be tested to make sure.
